Frequently Asked Questions

I have been helping clients with their website and branding for the last 10 years now and have been asked every question under the sun, so to help you guys I have crafted this FAQ page to answer any frequently asked questions you may have along the way.

How much does a website cost?

The cost of websites vary depending on many factors, such as how many pages there will be, is there a login facility, a members area, if you use it to sell products and the list goes on. Our websites start in the $3,000 range for a basic business website and range upwards depending on the needs of the client.

How long will it take to build?

Times vary based on what is going into the website, but a basic website would take about 4 - 6 weeks to complete.

I have a domain, what’s hosting and do I need it?

A lot of clients come to me and say that they have bought a domain name, what now? It’s a good start but you also need a place for your website to be housed, this is called hosting. We can help you set all of this up and offer competitive hosting prices.

What is WordPress?

I build all of my websites in WordPress. WordPress is the most powerful online website creation tool and content management systems in existence today and powers over 25% of websites on the internet.

What’s a Content Management System?

A Content Management System is a online tool which allows the client to manage and update the website themselves. The CMS allows you to update images, add in new pages and make text changes.

Do you do training?

I provide all of my clients a private video training page when I deliver the final website, this shows them how to use the main editable areas in their new website. If you would like to learn a few more techniques that are above and beyond the basics, I offer One-on-one sessions or Skype training at an extra cost.

What is a Care Plan and do I need one?

Just like your smartphone or your computer, websites need to be updated, they are no longer a “set and forget” part of your business. So the short answer is Yes, you do need one.

You can check my Care Plans out here: Website Care Plans

WordPress usually rolls out major updates twice a year, though minor, updates are needed. There are also updates for themes and plugins, which are less predictable. Your website will need monthly back ups and benefit from stringent security monitoring. Care Plans can also cover a number of hours for those little more complicated changes along the way.

Can I sell my products online?

Of course you can, this is called eCommerce just let me know what you need.

What do I have to provide you with?

Do you write the content?

I don’t write your site content, however if you need help with this I can put you in contact with a copy writer that specialises in writing for the internet.
